Enter the Mystic
Priscilla Nolan’s shop, Mystic Mermaids, is a twilight realm of tarot readings and past-life regressions. In steps Dax Burton, tall, handsome, and disturbed. His dilated pupils search for her daughter, Piper.
Scorpions skitter up Priscilla’s spine.
A promising clairvoyant raised amid seashells and sunshine in Nocuma Beach, California, Piper is ill-prepared to recognize evil when it’s packaged so attractively. Dax radiates charisma that sends her swooning. She’s convinced they are bound by destiny and invites him into her heart and loft.
After a haze of bliss together, Dax loses control of his carefully crafted facade. He taunts and gaslights Piper. She blows off Priscilla’s warning that something vile lurks behind his dazzling smile. Piper has fallen for a masquerade.
Priscilla moves to banish Dax from their lives, and Piper rushes to his defense, unwittingly exposing her mother to a devastating attack. Now Piper is left on her own with a dangerous entity she’s ill-equipped to handle.
